프로젝트 소개
본 과제는 국제관계에서 중간 규모 국가가 외교를 수행하는 방식인 middle power diplomacy를 연구함. 중학생도 이해 가능하게 말하면, South Korea와 India가 미국과 중국 사이에서 어떤 역할을 할 수 있는지 유형별로 정리해 보는 연구임.
연구 목표는 middle power의 정의와 typology 제시, 기회·도전·policy alternatives에 대한 mid-range theories 구축, 이를 South Korea와 India 사례에 적용하는 데 있음. 핵심 연구 내용은 middle powers의 diversity를 반영한 분류 체계, great power rivalry 맥락에서 security cooperation, economic exchanges, United Nations 내 politics를 중심으로 정책 대안을 도출하는 점임. 기대 효과는 국제 저널 논문 2편 이상, 정책연구 성과 및 edited volume 가능성 확보임
