Various rate plans have been developed for charging electric energy in electric vehicles (EVs), In this paper, several EV charging rate plans based on DC fast chargers are compared in terms of the charging fees. Combined rate plans with a time-of-use (TOU) rate plan for AC slow chargers are also compared. For the analysis and comparison of the rate plans, charging models for the plans with respect to the driving distance and the DC charging ratio are derived. Among the various EV charging rate plans, it is shown that using only the subscription rate plan for the DC fast charger can lead to the most savings on charging fees. If AC slow charging is possible, using only the TOU rate plan of the AC slow charger is recommended. If we must use both charging methods of DC and AC, then an appropriate method can be selected depending on the DC charging ratio and the driving distance.
