Amorphous Silicon Carbide Utilizing microchip technology, researchers have discovered the strongest amorphous nanostructured material to date, with an ultimate tensile strength surpassing 10 GPa. This material, amorphous silicon carbide (a-SiC), exhibits unprecedented strength, comparable to crystalline and 2D materials, but with new design and fabrication possibilities. In article number 2306513, Miguel A. Bessa, Richard A. Norte, and co-workers introduce a precise microchip-based measurement technique that bypasses traditional clamping methods, showcasing a-SiC's potential as the ultimate mechanical material for world-class sensors.
