This study investigates the impact of network capabilities and deep learning techniques on companies' financial performance within buyer-supplier networks. It broadens the scope by incorporating network measures such as closeness and network constraint, whereas previous studies have primarily focused on suitable buyer-supplier relationships. The analysis evaluates the effects of these network measures on companies' financial performance metrics, including asset growth rate, return on assets, and more. In addition, this study explores the impact of extended networks on company performance using deep learning techniques. The results show that companies' network capabilities are positively associated with their financial performance, highlighting the critical role of network positions in driving success. Furthermore, the findings suggest that extending the network through deep learning offers significant benefits for companies.

Understanding and predicting human behavior has emerged as a core capability in various AI application domains such as autonomous driving, smart healthcare, surveillance systems, and social robotics. This paper defines the technical framework of Artificial Behavior Intelligence (ABI), which comprehensively analyzes and interprets human posture, facial expressions, emotions, behavioral sequences, and contextual cues. It details the essential components of ABI, including pose estimation, face and emotion recognition, sequential behavior analysis, and context-aware modeling. Furthermore, we highlight the transformative potential of recent advances in large-scale pretrained models, such as large language models (LLMs), vision foundation models, and multimodal integration models, in significantly improving the accuracy and interpretability of behavior recognition. Our research team has a strong interest in the ABI domain and is actively conducting research, particularly focusing on the development of intelligent lightweight models capable of efficiently inferring complex human behaviors. This paper identifies several technical challenges that must be addressed to deploy ABI in real-world applications including learning behavioral intelligence from limited data, quantifying uncertainty in complex behavior prediction, and optimizing model structures for low-power, real-time inference. To tackle these challenges, our team is exploring various optimization strategies including lightweight transformers, graph-based recognition architectures, energy-aware loss functions, and multimodal knowledge distillation, while validating their applicability in real-time environments.

Efficient operational planning in district heating systems (DHSs) is essential for minimizing operating costs and maximizing energy efficiency. However, since practitioners must determine future production plans under unknown future demands and costs in real-world energy systems, it is challenging to solve the production planning problems of DHSs. In this paper, we propose a multi-head attention-based TimesNet (MATN) in which a transformer decoder is incorporated that operates solely on a 24 h lookback window without requiring any future information. Specifically, the model is trained in an end-to-end manner, for which the training dataset was built by solving a mixed integer programming (MIP) model. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed MATN model significantly outperforms baseline deep learning-based methods. A qualitative analysis of the hourly production plans further indicates that MATN generates robust operational plans that mimic those generated by an MIP model, which suggests the effectiveness of the proposed approach in terms of economic efficiency and operational stability without depending on future information.

Rapid automated logistics within a factory are essential to maximize productivity. In semiconductor manufacturing, the most important logistics management is the efficient operation of overhead hoist transports (OHTs). To transfer wafers via OHTs without delays, it is necessary to predict short-term traffic congestion in the OHT railway accurately. However, the congestion prediction is a significant challenge due to the complexity of investigating all traffic conditions and dynamic traffic changes. Several studies have utilized machine learning approaches to address these concerns, but limitations arise in predicting the short-term congestion due to the performance bias stemming from large input features. Recurrent neural networks are effective in predicting traffic flow in transportation. However, they may not be suitable for OHT railway congestion prediction due to unpredictable loading/unloading events and varying traffic volumes. Therefore, this study proposes an integrated neural network-based method where multiple neural networks are trained considering current conditions of the railway network and expected changes in traffic conditions. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, a simulated dataset was used to reflecting real-world semiconductor fabrication. The experiment results demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms existing methods, including machine learning- and deep learning-based methods.

As demand for heat and power continues to grow, production planning of a combined heat and power (CHP) system becomes one of the most crucial optimization problems. Due to the fluctuations in demand and production costs of heat and power, it is necessary to quickly solve the production planning problem of the contemporary CHP system. In this paper, we propose a Hybrid Time series Informed neural Network (HYTIN) in which, a deep learning-based planner for CHP production planning predicts production levels for heat and power for each time step. Specifically, HYTIN supports inventory-aware decisions by utilizing a long short-term memory network for heat production and a convolutional neural network for power production. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, we build ten independent test datasets of 1200 h each with feasible initial states and common limits. Experimentation results demonstrate that HYTIN achieves lower operation cost than the other baseline methods considered in this paper while maintaining quick inference time, suggesting the viability of HYTIN when constructing production plans under dynamic variations in demand in CHP systems.
