This study aims to construct essential information on the pests attacking Cnidium officinale Makino, which is one of the most important medicinal plants in Korea and neighboring countries. Based on the current survey, a total of 12 species were identified, including three above-ground pests attacking flowers, leaves, and stems, as well as ten soil pests attacking roots. In the vertical distribution of damaged roots, the dominant species is bulb mite (Rhizoglyphus robini) followed by onion maggot (Delia antiqua). Based on this study and the previous literature, the total number of species of pests reported to attack C. officinale is 36, including 3 on flowers, 16 on leaves, 6 on stems, and 11 on roots. We also investigated and compiled a list of natural enemies based on all available information and the current study, totaling 14 species. Parasitus sp., Macrocheles glaber, and Smicroplectrus sp. were identified as candidate natural enemies of root pests.

The family Glyphipterigidae comprises small-sized moths with a wingspan ranging from 8 to 14 mm. This family is mainly distributed in the Palaearctic and Oriental Regions. In Korea, five species of the genus Acrolepiopsis Gaedike, 1970 have been recorded. However, species-level identification within this genus is often challenging due to high morphological similarity amongst species. In this study, two new species of the genus Acrolepiopsis, A. quinquelobatae sp. nov. and A. koreana sp. nov., are described from Korea. Species delimitation is supported by COI gene analysis and morphological characteristics of genitalia, both of which reveal clear genetic divergence from other Acrolepiopsis species previously recorded in Korea. Photographs of adults and genitalia, along with information on host plants, are also provided.

2024Description of a new species of Parens Fibiger, 2011 (Lepidoptera, Erebidae, Hypenodinae) from Korea

IF 1.3 (2024)
ZooKeys
The genus Parens comprises small moths, with a wingspan of 9–13 mm, belonging to the family Erebidae. Until now, only four species have been described worldwide. In Korea, only one species, P. occi (Fibiger & Kononenko, 2008) has been known to date. In this study, a new species from Korea, P. fibigerina Lee & Byun, sp. nov., is described. As a result, two Parens species are now known from Korea. Figures of adults, male and female genitalia, and a key to the species of Parens in Korea are provided.

IF 1 (2023)
Biodiversity Data Journal
Liocrobyla Meyrick, 1916 is a relatively small genus within the family Gracillariidae, consisting of nine species worldwide, including five species in Korea. In this study, we recognise five species belonging to the genus Liocrobyla Meyrick, 1916 from Korea. Amongst them, one species, L. indigofera Liu, Wang & Wang, 2018, is reported for the first time in Korea. Figures of adults, male and female genitalia, along with a key to the species of Liocrobyla in Korea, are provided.

IF 3 (2022)
Insects
In this study, 29 species of Caloptilia Hübner, 1825, belonging to the family Gracillariidae, were recognized in Korea. Among these, three species, i.e., C. purpureus sp. nov., C. koreana sp. nov., and C. xanthos sp. nov., are described as new to science. In addition, seven species of this genus are reported for the first time in Korea. All known species were enumerated, based on their available information. Adult specimens and genitalia of the new and newly recorded species were examined and described using all available information.
