2026Anomaly Detection and Robot Foundation Model-Based Robot Arm Control Platform for Manufacturing AX

Journal of Korea Multimedia Society
As modern manufacturing shifts toward highly customized production, Manufacturing AX (AI Transformation) which integrates visual intelligence with autonomous robotic handling is becoming increasingly necessary. In such environments, systems must not only detect defects accurately but also autonomously decide and execute appropriate handling actions. However, many anomaly detectors are computationally intensive or fail to detect subtle defects, and conventional robot control degrades significantly under dynamic conditions. We propose an end-to-end pipeline designed to accelerate Manufacturing AX with two main contributions: (1) Enhanced attention mechanism into the EfficientAD model to strengthen the representational power of feature maps without introducing additional trainable parameters, thereby improving pixel-level anomaly detection performance and enabling more precise localization. (2) Condition-based prompting for a SmolVLA-based Robot Foundation Model, enabling a single policy to execute location-conditioned actions without prompt switching. A direct interface that feeds anomaly outputs into the RFM to generate control commands from defect objects. The experiment results have shown that the proposed method achieves high detection accuracy and robust performance from inspection to final handling.

2026Adaptive Boundary‐Guided Learning and Counterfactual Feature Shuffling for Anomaly Detection

ABSTRACT Industrial anomaly detection relies on training with normal data alone, since anomalous samples are not available during the training phase. Conventional methods often demonstrate inaccurate boundary estimation while depending on unrealistic synthetic anomalies. To overcome these challenges, we propose a novel method that generates virtual anomalies directly from normal features through gradient‐based feature shifting and counterfactual feature shuffling, thereby facilitating accurate boundary formation in feature space. These virtual anomalies are used to train a discriminator that effectively differentiates between normal and anomalous representations, thus enhancing the accuracy of anomaly map generation. To evaluate the proposed method, experiments are performed on four publicly accessible datasets, MVTec AD, VisA, MPDD, and WFDD, using image‐level and pixel‐level AUROC metrics. The results indicate that the proposed method improves the detection performance and anomaly localisation compared to existing methods.

2023Super‐resolution using deep residual network with spectral normalization
Yogendra Rao Musunuri, Oh‐Seol Kwon
IF 0.7 (2023)
Electronics Letters
Abstract In this letter, the authors present a single‐image super‐resolution method based on introducing a novel spectral normalization to the convolution of a deep residual network. Moreover, the authors construct a new residual block (RB) and assemble it in a cascade form. The new RB was restructured by the spectrally normalized convolution layers and activated function. In addition, the RB allows the spectral normalization introduced on the trained network to update the additional weights. Furthermore, it minimizes pixel loss, thereby helping to obtain enhanced reconstruction results, limiting the number of parameters, and facilitating a low computational cost. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed model shows the superior performance over that of state‐of‐the‐art methods in terms of visual quality metrics such as UQI and PIQE.

2022SRODNet: Object Detection Network Based on Super Resolution for Autonomous Vehicles

Remote Sensing
Object detection methods have been applied in several aerial and traffic surveillance applications. However, object detection accuracy decreases in low-resolution (LR) images owing to feature loss. To address this problem, we propose a single network, SRODNet, that incorporates both super-resolution (SR) and object detection (OD). First, a modified residual block (MRB) is proposed in the SR to recover the feature information of LR images, and this network was jointly optimized with YOLOv5 to benefit from hierarchical features for small object detection. Moreover, the proposed model focuses on minimizing the computational cost of network optimization. We evaluated the proposed model using standard datasets such as VEDAI-VISIBLE, VEDAI-IR, DOTA, and Korean highway traffic (KoHT), both quantitatively and qualitatively. The experimental results show that the proposed method improves the accuracy of vehicular detection better than other conventional methods.
