Railway and road traffic noise annoyance of residents in high-rise apartments

This study investigated noise exposure relationships among high-rise apartment populations. Field noise measurements were conducted at four sites, three of which were primarily exposed to railway noise. Noise maps were created to calculate noise exposure levels for each dwelling, and social surveys were conducted with 400 participants (100 from each site). Railway noise was more annoying than road traffic noise for residents of high-rise apartments, confirming the lack of a railway bonus. A comparison of the exposure–response relationships with previous studies revealed that road traffic noise was reported to be less annoying than in prior studies, whereas railway noise was more annoying. Even at low noise exposure levels, railway noise was highly annoying. Annoyance ratings were significantly scattered across noise exposure levels, suggesting that factors beyond noise exposure, such as attitudes towards sources and vibrations, influence noise annoyance.

원자력발전소에서 발생된 고준위방사성폐기물을 안전하게 관리하는 최적의 방안으로 심지층처분이 거론되고 있다. 심지층처분시스템 개념은 고준위방사성폐기물을 처분용기에 밀봉하여 지하 500 m 이하의 깊이에 위치한 처분공에 완충재와 함께 처분하는 것이다. 처분용기가 기능을 상실하게 되면 처분용기로부터 방사성 물질이 누출되어 지하 암반의 균열을 통해 생태계까지 도달할 수 있다. 따라서 지하암반 내 방사성 물질의 거동을 평가하기 위해서는 우선적으로 암반 내 균열특성을 명확히 파악하는 것이 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 자연상태의 균열이 있는 암반에 유체주입실험으로 얻은 수두 데이터를 이용하여 균열 내 간극의 크기를 평가하여 평균 간극은 0.102 mm 및 간극 체적은 61 mL를 도출하였다. 계산된 간극 분포를 3차원으로 형상화하여 유동 해석을 위한 격자를 생성하고 CFD 해석으로 간극 분포의 평가 방법을 검증하였다.

Factors Influencing Person-Centered Care in Long-Term Care Facilities

본 연구는 노인요양시설에서 요양보호사가 실천하는 인간중심돌봄 수준에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 국민건강보험공단 건강보험연구원이 수행한 2022년 장기요양기관 기능 재정립 및 주거환경 개선방안 연구에서 수집된 자료중 일부를 재분석하였으며, 2022년 8월 5일부터 9월 16일까지 진행된 설문조사에 참여한 요양보호사 384명의 응답을 분석하였다. 자료 분석에는 기술통계, t -검정, 일원배치 분산분석, 다변량 회귀분석을 적용하였다. 분석 결과, 인간중심돌봄 수준에 영향을 미치는 주요 요인은 결혼 여부, 집과 같은 환경, 유니버설디자인 적용 수준으로 나타났으며, 가장 영향력이 큰 변수는 집과 같은 환경으로 확인되었다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 노인요양시설의 유니트케어 시범사업 확산 및 유니버설디자인 기준 적용을 위한 법·제도적 정비의 필요성을 제안하였다. 본 연구는 인간중심돌봄 향상을 위한 환경적 요인의 중요성을 제시함으로써 노인요양시설 운영 및 정책수립에 시사점을 제공하였다.
Analysis of the utilization of long-term care robots

본 연구는 장기요양기관의 돌봄로봇 활용실태를 조사하여 돌봄로봇 도입의 필요성을 확인하고, 돌봄로봇 도입여부에 영향을 미치는 요인을 규명하였다. 조사대상은 2023년 장기요양기관패널 경영실태조사에 참여한 1,037개 기관으로 하였다. 수집된 자료는 SAS 9.4 프로그램을 이용하여 분석되었고 빈도분석, 교차분석, 로지스틱회귀분석 등이 사용되었다.<br/> 분석 결과, 시설급여기관에서는 ‘욕창예방 및 자세변환’ 로봇 필요성이 가장 높고 재가급여기관에서는 ‘운동보조(근력강화)’로봇 필요성이 높게 나타났다. 장기요양기관 내 돌봄로봇 도입이 필요한 이유로 시설 및 재가급여 기관 모두 종사자들의 신체적·정신적 업무부담 완화를 가장 높은 비율로 응답하였다. 돌봄로봇 도입 필요 여부에 영향 요인 분석 결과, 시설장의 학력 및 소득 수준, 그리고 기관의 급여유형, 도시유형에서 유의미한 차이가 나타났다.<br/> 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 시설 및 재가기관에 적합한 돌봄로봇의 개발, 장기요양 돌봄인력의 업무부담을 경감해줄 수 있는 핵심기술로서의 돌봄로봇 인식 및 정책적 지원 강화, 시설장의 교육 및 인식 개선, 재정지원, 시설급여기관 돌봄로봇 시범사업 확대 등 정책적 시사점을 제안하였다.
Climate Crisis and Climate Anxiety among Koreans : Focusing on Life Instability, Climate Change Experience and Behavioral Engagement

Recent disasters in Korean society have underscored the severity of the climate crisis, bringing to the an urgent issue requiring immediate reaction. One of the key issues of the climate crisis is climate anxiety. This study aims to understand the climate anxiety experienced by Koreans and its key related factors and contribute to effective countermeasures. This study set climate anxiety as the dependent variable, and life instability(worries about life, life-threatening experience), climate change experience and behavioral engagement as independent variables, controlling for demographic variables. Statistical analysis was conducted using survey data targeting Korean adults. The results showed that climate change experience was a significant variable of exacerbating climate anxiety. Life-threatening experiences also indicated a meaningful association with the increased climate anxiety. Both practical and cognitive behavioral engagement was statistically significant, with practical behavioral engagement associated with a decrease in climate anxiety, while cognitive behavioral engagement was associated with an increase. Among demographic variables, housing tenure type had a marginally significant effect on climate anxiety. This study discussed the implications of these results and policy recommendations.
Dissolution of metals in NCM622 cathode through the Dissimilatory process with Na-lactate by Shewanella putrefaciens

Objectives:The objective of this study is to confirm the possibility of reduction and consequent dissolution of Li, Ni, Co, and Mn from NCM622 cathodes in spent Li-ion batteries through the anaerobic respiration with Na-lactate by Shewanella putrefaciens.Methods:The method involves using anaerobic microbial respiration to mimic dissimilatory metal oxide reduction, allowing metals to be leached from NCM622 cathodes (LiNi0.6Co0.2Mn0.2O2) under near-neutral pH conditions (~7.5).Results and Discussion:The results show that approximately 26 wt% of the total Li, Ni, Co, and Mn were successfully leached into the solution within two weeks. This approach differs significantly from conventional acidic leaching processes, offering a more environmentally friendly and sustainable alternative. In addition, we provide quantitative information regarding the dissolution of NCM622 when it is exposed in environmental systems.Conclusion:In conclusion, microbial-based metal leaching presents a novel, sustainable pathway for recovering metals from spent Li-ion batteries, addressing environmental concerns and reducing dependence on traditional energy-intensive recovery methods.
Reliability and Validity of the Korean Weinstein Noise Sensitivity Scale

Noise sensitivity is a critical factor influencing individuals’ subjective responses to various types of noise. Since its introduction in 1978, Weinstein’s Noise Sensitivity Scale(WNSS) has been widely utilized across numerous studies. This paper presents the adaptation of the WNSS for Korean-speaking populations and evaluates its reliability and validity. A detailed description of the translation and adaptation process is reported, highlighting partial modifications made to enhance comprehension and ease of response. Subsequently, the reliability and validity of the Korean version were assessed using data collected from studies employing this version. Reliability was measured based on the internal consistency of the 21 items, while the validity was assessed through factor analysis. The results indicated that the Korean version met the criteria for reliability and validity. Future research may involve performing test-retest reliability assessments with the same respondents and conducting comparative analyses with other noise sensitivity scales, including short versions of the WNSS.
Comparative study on informal caregiver support policies in the long-term care system for older adults among South Korea, the United Kingdom, and Sweden

Abstract This study analyses how care regimes in South Korea, the United Kingdom, and Sweden shape the roles of and support policies for informal caregivers within long-term care systems for older adults. South Korea considers informal caregivers both as resources and co-clients, but its well-being support is limited, financial aid criteria are relatively strict, and while employment-care reconciliation policies exist, familistic culture hinders their use. The United Kingdom assigns co-worker and co-client roles, offering well-being support, broader financial aid, and expanding employment-care reconciliation. Sweden prioritises formal care and recognises informal caregivers as co-clients, placing the strongest emphasis on improving their well-being while strictly regulating financial aid and employment-care reconciliation. Despite differences, all three countries emphasise informal caregiver well-being and have established frameworks for financial support and employment-care reconciliation policies. Future policies should enhance quality control, regulate financial aid, strengthen employment-care reconciliation support, and expand formal care, while addressing the potential negative impacts of dual caregiver roles.

독일의 Felix Wankel은 로터의 회전운동을 직접 구동축에 전달하여 출력을 얻을 수 있는 내연기관인 로터리 엔진을 고안하였다. 이 엔진은 에피트로코이드 곡선으로 형성된 실린더 안의 로터에 의해 구획된 공간에서 로터가 회전하면서 용적 변화로 동력을 얻는다. 본 연구에서는 로터리 엔진의 기하학적 형상을 사용하되, 로터의 회전으로부터 발생하는 실린더 내부의 용적변화를 활용하여 유체를 이송할 수 있는 로터리 펌프를 고안하였다. 이때, 로터리 펌프를 구성하는 로터하우징의 형상인 에피트로코이드 곡선, 로터리 펌프의 기하학적 형상, 작동 시 로터 꼭지점의 속도, 구동축 회전에 따른 체적 및 토출유량을 평가하였다.
